Media advisory on respectful reporting about persons with disability
National Secretariat
Guidance for newsrooms on terminology, consent, and avoiding inspiration framing.
The federation offers the following guidance to newsrooms covering the disability sector.
Use person-first or identity-first language as the subject prefers. Ask before photographing assistive devices. Avoid framing ordinary participation as inspirational. Credit disabled sources by name and expertise rather than by diagnosis.
For interviews, official statements, or regional contacts, write to the national secretariat.
